Joy and Mike,
In pondering what y’all are saying – I’m wondering if we adults just don’t think about talking to the children about the health decline of family members. We talk among our adult-selves about a diagnosis, health decline, treatments, physical changes – but we don’t think about bringing the kids into the conversation. Maybe out of fear, anxiety, just don’t know what to say, our own grief … or we just don’t think about it until that family member dies and the kids are left with seeing/dealing with that all at once.
Just pondering. Thanks for helping with that.
