Thank you Wally. Remaining engaged and not being anxious in the moment is hard do. I find it is a moving target for me. I am the there and then I move away from that space to an anxious place, worried about fixing, attaining a desired outcome, covering my adgenda, being aware I don’t like something about a person I’m visiting, or something else. As you point out, relying on technique will not help much either. Those we visit perceive we are not really there with them, just going through some check list with them. In these setting I feel I miss the mark of really listening and caring.
