Spiritual caregivers are faced every day with persons from different cultural backgrounds, which includes different faith orientations and “Nones”. Jose Albovias brings rich experience as a chaplain, pastor, and educator and his education in world religions in addressing cross cultural issues.

Overview: 

Diversity is not just a new word in our vocabulary, it is a new way of life.  Spiritual caregivers are faced every day with persons from different cultural backgrounds, which includes different faith orientations and “Nones”. Unconscious cultural biases create challenges and opportunities in providing effective spiritual care.  Periodic reconsideration of these issues is important and helpful. Collaborative discussion of effective means of connecting across diverse populations will add to any spiritual caregiver’s tools box. Jose’s brings rich experience as a chaplain, pastor, and educator and his education in world religions in addressing cross cultural issues. 

Learning objectives: 

  1. Participants will be aware of their own cultural biases.
  2. Participants will be aware of different aspects of cultural dynamics. 
  3. Participants will be able to be able to engage and connect with those of other cultures constructively. 
  4. Participants will be aware of some available resources.
